While much ink has been spilled over 1980s punk and hardcore mythology - eventually culminating with a Sony Pictures feature film, 'American Hardcore,' released in 2006 - very little has been revealed about the era that followed. Indeed, it's a glaring omission. In the 1990s, punk rock entered its adolescent stage and began reevaluating its own music, politics, and traditions. And before long, the result of this collective soul-searching became clear: If hardcore wanted to remain relevant in the new decade, it was going to have to rebel against itself. 'The Anti- Matter Anthology' is perhaps the first published book dedicated to this transition.

Awesome new 'old school' fanzine featuring interviews with Sinking Ships, Have Heart, Mankind Records, Collapse Records, Lights Out, Pressure, One Voice, Watch Out, Go For Broke. Of course there are review and pics as well, a very well-rounded package. There are 'fanzine editions' of the LITTLE RASCALS ep and the GENERATIONS ep available as well, but stock on those is way limited.

Although some define hardcore as a specific sound, most believe it's more than that: a set of varying ideas, ethics, principles, attitudes and, yes, music, that converge to form a community. 'Burning Fight: The Nineties Hardcore Revolution In Ethics, Politics, Spirit, And Sound' by Brian Peterson provides some answers, but also brings up a whole new set of questions for those who've been drawn to the scene's political, social, ethical and spiritual ideas amidst the screamed vocals and abrasive chords. 'Burning Fight' features commentary from approximately 150 participants from the nineties hardcore scene as well as oral history articles about straight edge, politics, vegetarianism and interviews with a variety of influential bands such as: Avail, Burn, Earth Crisis, Inside Out, Integrity, Los Crudos, Spitboy, Strife, Texas Is The Reason, Unbroken and more. 503 pages. Essential.

In his new autobiography, NYHC legend John 'Bloodclot' Joseph recounts his hard times and spiritual redemption. A traumatic childhood in foster homes was just the beginning of John's evolution. Before fronting one of the most important bands in the underground punk scene, the Cro-Mags, John faced homelessness, addiction, betrayal and insanity. Still, even his success couldn't save him from a relapse that set him back to square one- rock bottom. The book is a raw and unapologetic autobiography. 430 pages!

HRVST is not a music magazine / book. It´s not about telling you how a new record sounds or how the tour of our favorite band went. Instead we 'harvest' experiences, ideas and stories of people from the DIY music and art scene and produce a book that focuses on their individual stories and experiences, shedding light on a very up, close and personal level, building on a bigger, more complex and truthful picture of who they really are and what makes them the persons they are. Beyond the stage, beyond the canvas, beyond what you seem to know about them already. And in the end uniting them in one single topic per issue. The first publication of HRVST focuses on the topic of 'Death'. It contains diverse contributions by the likes of CHUCK RAGAN (known from Hot Water Music), ROB MORAN (Unbroken, Narrows), WESLEY EISOLD American Nightmare / Give Up The Ghost), STEVE BRODSKY (Cave In), EUGENE S. ROBINSON (Oxbow), CHRIS COLOHAN (Cursed, Left For Dead), GEERT VAN DER VELDE (Shai Hulud) among many, many others. 166 pages beautiful layed out and printed.

In his second book, infamous Cro-Mags frontman John Joseph tries to break the long-time
stereotypes of vegetarianism, giving his own case as a street-wise physically tough gym
rat living a compassionate lifestyle. Within the pages, he draws upon his own personal
experiences as well as those of other notable vegetarian athletes to paint a new picture
of living meat-free, including a few of his own favorite foods and recipes.

Incredible zine from sweden, this fucker is HUGE!
Law and Order #3 contains:
Bane: Marcus sat down for a fantastic interview with Aaron when Bane visited Sweden in October. Those who were there will remember how Aaron raved about it later on stage as one of the best interviews he's ever done.
Terror: A long and honest chat with Scott during the Hell on Earth tour in October. Focusing on the "KOTF" theme and getting older inside the hardcore scene, Scott has a lot of good things to say.
Anchor: This is the biggest piece we've ever had in the zine, if you're counting words. A majestic interview with Claes and Mattias about touring, living a life as punk outcasts, straight edge and much more. An extremely open and revealing interview that we're very happy to have in the zine.
30 years of straight edge ? This year marks the 30th anniversary of the release of the first Minor Threat EP. To celebrate this, we've interviewed eight different straight edgers in Sweden, letting them tell their stories, thoughts and opinions. We've also interviewed DC hardcore maniacs Coke Bust as a part of this theme, which finally contains a guest column and an article by Staffan as well.
As always, reviews, photographs, a book report etc is in there as well.

Originally released in 1989 with a scant 79 photos and under 100 pages; this expanded edition
brings over 200 photographs as well as reflections from key characters documenting a special
time period in one of the most notorious hardcore music scene in the country. "Making A Scene:
New York Hardcore In Photos, Lyrics& Commentary REVISITED 1985-1988" captures the energy
of the New York hardcore music scene in photographs, lyrics and comments from those involved
in their music, their attitudes, and their lifestyle. Hardcore is a way of life for thousands of band
members and fans all over the world. Here, New York City's hardcore movement is represented
in all of its outspoken, opinionated, and often contradictory variety. Participants are shown with
friends, spouses, even children, performing, dancing and hanging out. They also explain in their
own words and lyrics to songs what they think hardcore is all about. From moments of quiet
intimacy to the controlled mayhem of live shows, "Making A Scene..." documents, in a unique
way, this flourishing and often misunderstood underground style.
